A bill for an act
relating to education; appropriating money to help the Center for Applied
Research and Educational Improvement at the University of Minnesota initiate
research, evaluation, and assessment services on behalf of policy makers and
state and local education entities and stakeholders.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $500,000 in fiscal year 2017 is appropriated from the general fund to the University
of Minnesota Board of Regents for the Center for Applied Research and Educational
Improvement (CAREI) for personnel and technology costs to allow CAREI to begin to
establish high quality collaboration and communication among state and local policy
makers, educators, researchers, evaluators, psychometricians, education agencies and
organizations, and other education stakeholders interested in working together, in learning
what is effective, in developing or modifying programs and services where required, and
in improving student outcomes through shared results and information.
