  1.2             relating to education; authorizing funding to 
  1.3             establish a voluntary accreditation program to assist 
  1.4             school districts to provide optimal educational 
  1.5             support services; appropriating money. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [FIVE STAR SCHOOL ACCREDITATION PROGRAM.] 
  1.8      The following sums are appropriated from the general fund 
  1.9   to the department of children, families, and learning in the 
  1.10  fiscal years designated to establish a voluntary accreditation 
  1.11  program to assist school districts and other education 
  1.12  organizations to provide optimal educational support services 
  1.13  and other operational efforts in the areas of physical learning 
  1.14  environment, community involvement, capital asset management, 
  1.15  support services, and fiscal, demographic and program statistics 
  1.16  by performing audits, reports, and program advocacy: 
  1.17        $995,000          2000
  1.18        $275,000          2001
  1.19     Any balance in the first year does not cancel but is 
  1.20  available in the second year. 
  1.21     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.22     Section 1 is effective July 1, 2000.
