  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; imposing an alternate 
  1.3             bargaining deadline for districts and teachers. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [CONTRACT DEADLINE.] 
  1.6      The penalty contained in Minnesota Statutes, section 
  1.7   123B.05, shall be applicable to any public employer that has not 
  1.8   signed a collective bargaining agreement with the exclusive 
  1.9   representative of the teachers on or before January 15, 2003, 
  1.10  subject to the exemptions in the statute. 
  1.11     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective July 1, 2002.
