A bill for an act
relating to capital investment; appropriating money for the Metropolitan Center
for Independent Living.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

LIVING.

new text begin $7,500,000 is appropriated from the state fiscal recovery fund in fiscal year 2022 to the
commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant to the Metropolitan
Center for Independent Living to acquire land for and to predesign, design, construct, furnish,
and equip the renovation and expansion of the existing Metropolitan Center for Independent
Living facility on Robert Street in St. Paul. The renovated and expanded facility will provide
a broad range of independent living, vocational, case management, and other important
services for persons with disabilities in the seven-county metropolitan area. This is a onetime
appropriation and is available until the project is completed or abandoned, subject to
Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642. For the purposes of this section, "state fiscal recovery
fund" means money received by the state pursuant to section 9901 of the American Rescue
Plan Act, Public Law 117-2.
