relating to education finance; appropriating money for onetime school capital
projects.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin The sum indicated in this section is
appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education for the fiscal year
designated.

new text begin Subd. 2. new text end

new text begin Supplemental aid for school capital projects. new text end

new text begin (a) Aid for a school district
equals $....... times the adjusted pupil units for the school year times the district's 2022
maintenance cost index under Minnesota Statutes, section 126C.10, subdivision 16.

new text begin (b) The aid must be placed in a reserved account in the general fund and may only be
used for the following purposes:

new text begin (1) to improve and repair school sites and buildings, and equip or re-equip school
buildings with permanent attached fixtures, including library media centers;

new text begin (2) to eliminate barriers or increase access to school buildings by individuals with a
disability; and
new text end

new text begin (3) to bring school buildings into compliance with the State Fire Code adopted according
to Minnesota Statutes, chapter 299F.

new text begin (c) 100 percent of aid must be paid in the current fiscal year.

new text begin (d) This is a onetime appropriation and is available until funds are spent.
