A bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating money to provide victim services for the
safety of human trafficking victims.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin SAFETY FOR HUMAN TRAFFICKING VICTIMS; GRANT.

new text begin $95,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2009 from the general fund to the
commissioner of public safety for a grant to a nonprofit organization that provides
international human trafficking victims in the state with no-cost legal, medical, dental,
mental health, shelter, transportation, and vocational counseling services and English
language classes to keep human trafficking victims safe. The nonprofit organization
shall prepare and submit to the commissioner of public safety a written grant proposal
describing the no-cost services, including components of the services offered and other
information requested by the commissioner.
