relating to education finance; appropriating money for the Girls in Action program.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin The sum indicated in this section is
appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of education for the fiscal year
designated.

new text begin Girls in Action. new text end

new text begin (a) For a grant to the Girls in Action program to enable Girls
in Action to continue to provide and to expand Twin Cities metropolitan area school and
community-based programs that encourage and support low-income girls, including
low-income girls of color, to graduate from high school on time, complete a postsecondary
preparation program, become community leaders, and participate in service learning
opportunities in their communities:

new text begin (b) By January 15, 2019, Girls in Action must submit a report detailing expenditures
and activities funded under this subdivision to the chairs and ranking minority members of
the legislative committees with primary jurisdiction over kindergarten through grade 12
education policy and finance.
