A bill for an act
relating to education finance; authorizing voluntary
full-day kindergarten; appropriating money; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 126C.10, subdivision
1, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 126C.10,
subdivision 1, is amended to read:

Subdivision 1.

General education revenue.

revenue, training and experience revenue, secondary sparsity
revenue, elementary sparsity revenue, transportation sparsity

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 126C.10, is
amended by adding a subdivision to read:

new text begin Full-day kindergarten. new text end

new text begin (a) A school district
may operate a full-day kindergarten program as a part of its
general fund activities. A school board, at its discretion, may
choose to offer half-day kindergarten programs, full-day
kindergarten programs, or a combination of kindergarten programs.

new text begin (b) Each school district is eligible for full-day
kindergarten aid equal to the adjusted average daily membership
of its kindergarten population times the formula allowance for
that year, times 0.42.

new text begin (c) This aid is in addition to any other revenue received
for these kindergarten pupils.
