  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to transportation; appropriating money for 
  1.3             metropolitan council transit; amending Laws 1999, 
  1.4             chapter 238, article 1, section 3. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Laws 1999, chapter 238, article 1, section 3, 
  1.7   is amended to read: 
  1.8   Sec. 3.  METROPOLITAN COUNCIL  
  1.9   TRANSIT                               56,801,000     53,101,000
  1.10                                                       57,101,000
  1.11  The council may not spend more than 
  1.12  $38,100,000 $42,100,000 for metro 
  1.13  mobility in the 2000-2001 biennium 
  1.14  except for proceeds from bond sales 
  1.15  when use of those proceeds for metro 
  1.16  mobility capital expenditures is 
  1.17  authorized by law. 
  1.18  Of the amount spent for metro mobility, 
  1.19  no less than $2,000,000 must be used to 
  1.20  expand metro mobility service and no 
  1.21  less than $2,000,000 must be used to 
  1.22  increase wages of metro mobility 
  1.23  drivers.  The council shall require 
  1.24  metro mobility providers to submit to 
  1.25  the council a plan for implementing the 
  1.26  wage increase for drivers. 
  1.27     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.28     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
