A bill for an act
relating to veterans; reimbursing local medical providers for providing treatment
to a veteran eligible for federally funded health care for routine health care
procedures under certain circumstances; providing additional duties for the
commissioner of veterans affairs; appropriating money; proposing coding for
new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 197.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin For the purposes of this section, "veteran" means a
person who is eligible for federally funded medical treatment because of that person's
service in the armed forces of the United States.

new text begin Reimbursement. new text end

new text begin (a) The commissioner shall reimburse a medical
provider for routine medical procedures and tests provided to a veteran if the veteran:

new text begin (1) is authorized to receive the procedures and tests at a federally funded facility; and
new text end

new text begin (2) the veteran's residence is located more than 50 miles from the location where the
federally funded medical care will be provided.

new text begin (b) The medical provider shall be reimbursed at the rates authorized under federal
law.

Sec. 2. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

197.70.
