relating to state government; funding publication of new works by authors of
African-American descent; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; AUTHORS OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN
DESCENT.

new text begin $300,000 in fiscal year 2017 is appropriated from the general fund to the Minnesota
Humanities Center to collaborate with and support Black Ink and to support the publication
of new works by authors of African-American descent and the professional development
of educators to better culturally engage those authors' work with student populations, a
critical factor in overcoming education and economic disparities.
