A bill for an act
relating to energy; appropriating money for low-income home energy heating
assistance.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin LOW-INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM;
SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION.

new text begin (a) $20,000,000 in fiscal year 2024 and $20,000,000 in fiscal year 2025 are appropriated
from the general fund to the commissioner of commerce to provide additional heating
assistance through the low-income home energy assistance program under United States
Code, title 42, sections 8621 to 8630, and Minnesota Statutes, section 216C.02, subdivision
1.

new text begin (b) The appropriation under this section is intended to supplement and not replace any
federal or other funding existing or otherwise available for heating assistance in Minnesota.

consistent with the requirements of the low-income home energy assistance program under
United States Code, title 42, sections 8621 to 8630.
