  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to professions; modifying terms of temporary 
  1.3             licensure for occupational therapists; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 148.6418, subdivision 
  1.5             5. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 148.6418, 
  1.8   subdivision 5, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 5.  [EXPIRATION OF TEMPORARY LICENSURE.] A temporary 
  1.10  license issued to a person pursuant to subdivision 2, clause 
  1.11  (1), expires ten weeks after the next credentialing 
  1.12  examination six months from the date of issuance for 
  1.13  occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants or 
  1.14  on the date the commissioner grants or denies licensure, 
  1.15  whichever occurs first.  A temporary license issued to a person 
  1.16  pursuant to subdivision 2, clause (2) or (3), expires 90 days 
  1.17  after it is issued.  Upon application for renewal, a temporary 
  1.18  license shall be renewed once to persons who have not met the 
  1.19  examination requirement under section 148.6408, subdivision 2, 
  1.20  or 148.6410, subdivision 2, within the initial temporary 
  1.21  licensure period and who are not the subject of a disciplinary 
  1.22  action nor disqualified on the basis of items in section 
  1.23  148.6448, subdivision 1.  Upon application for renewal, a 
  1.24  temporary license shall be renewed once to persons who are able 
  1.25  to demonstrate good cause for failure to meet the requirements 
  2.1   for licensure under section 148.6412 or 148.6415 within the 
  2.2   initial temporary licensure period and who are not the subject 
  2.3   of a disciplinary action nor disqualified on the basis of items 
  2.4   in section 148.6448, subdivision 1.
