A bill for an act
relating to transportation; appropriating money for noise barriers on marked
Interstate Highway 694.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin MARKED INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 694 NOISE BARRIERS.

new text begin (a) $8,000,000 in fiscal year 2023 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of transportation for installation of noise barriers in the following segments
of marked Interstate Highway 694:

new text begin (1) on the south side from Anoka County State-Aid Highway 1, known as University
Avenue, to 7th Street NE in Fridley;
new text end

new text begin (2) on the north side from Matterhorn Drive NE in Fridley to the prolongation of Black
Oak Drive in New Brighton;
new text end

new text begin (3) on the south side from the existing noise barrier near the western border of New
Brighton to Anoka County State-Aid Highway 44, known as Silver Lake Road; and
new text end

new text begin (4) on the south side from the prolongation of 8th Avenue NW for a distance of
approximately 750 feet to the highway-rail crossing in New Brighton.

new text begin (b) The commissioner may adjust the locations specified in paragraph (a) as reasonably
necessary to address noise impacts and establish continuous barriers. This is a onetime
appropriation and is available until June 30, 2026.
