A bill for an act
relating to crime; clarifying military member and adding veterans to offense of
impersonation; amending Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 609.475.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 609.475, is amended to read:


609.475 IMPERSONATING new text begin POLICE new text end OFFICERnew text begin ; MILITARYnew text end .

Whoever falsely impersonates a police deleted text begin or militarydeleted text end officernew text begin , active or reserve
component military service member, veteran,
new text end or public official with intent to mislead
another into believing that the impersonator is actually such officernew text begin , service member,
veteran,
new text end or official is guilty of a misdemeanor.
