  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to crime prevention; authorizing the 
  1.3             commissioner of economic security to award grants to 
  1.4             first-class cities for certain crime prevention 
  1.5             programs; appropriating money. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.8      $....... is appropriated to the commissioner of economic 
  1.9   security from the general fund for the fiscal biennium ending 
  1.10  June 30, 1999, for grants to cities of the first class that 
  1.11  demonstrate a need for creating and expanding curfew 
  1.12  enforcement, truancy prevention, and pretrial diversion 
  1.13  programs.  Programs funded under this provision must have 
  1.14  clearly established neighborhood, community, and family outcome 
  1.15  measures of success and must report to the commissioner on the 
  1.16  achievement of these outcomes on or before June 30, 1999.
