  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to liquor; exempting certain municipalities 
  1.3             from certain temporary license restrictions; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 340A.410, subdivision 
  1.5             10. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 340A.410, 
  1.8   subdivision 10, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 10.  [TEMPORARY LICENSES; RESTRICTIONS.] (a) A 
  1.10  municipality may not issue more than three four-day, four 
  1.11  three-day, or six two-day temporary licenses, in any combination 
  1.12  not to exceed 12 days per year, under section 340A.404, 
  1.13  subdivision 10, for the sale of alcoholic beverages to any one 
  1.14  organization or registered political committee, or for any one 
  1.15  location, within a 12-month period. 
  1.16     (b) A municipality may not issue more than one temporary 
  1.17  license under section 340A.404, subdivision 10, for the sale of 
  1.18  alcoholic beverages to any one organization or registered 
  1.19  political committee, or for any one location, within any 30-day 
  1.20  period.  This restriction does not apply to a municipality with 
  1.21  a population of 5,000 or fewer people if the local governing 
  1.22  body of the municipality approves.
