1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to health; providing for the establishment of 1.3 uniform billing requirements for health care 1.4 providers; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota 1.5 Statutes, chapter 62J. 1.6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.7 Section 1. [62J.535] [UNIFORM BILLING REQUIREMENTS.] 1.8 On and after January 1, 2001, health care providers, except 1.9 dental or pharmacy providers, shall accept and use uniform 1.10 billing requirements developed by the commissioner and enacted 1.11 by the legislature. 1.12 Sec. 2. [RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE LEGISLATURE.] 1.13 By January 15, 2000, the commissioner of health shall 1.14 submit recommended language, in bill format, that establishes 1.15 uniform billing requirements for health care providers, except 1.16 dental or pharmacy providers, to the president of the senate and 1.17 the speaker of the house, to be referred to appropriate 1.18 committees for consideration. The recommended requirements must 1.19 be consistent with, but are not limited to, Medicare standards.
