A bill for an act
relating to health; requiring health plans to cover medically necessary dental
procedures that are a result of cancer treatment; proposing coding for new law in
Minnesota Statutes, chapter 62Q.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin [62Q.59] COVERAGE FOR DENTAL PROCEDURES RESULTING
FROM CANCER TREATMENT.

new text begin (a) All health plans, as defined in section 62Q.01, shall provide coverage for medically
necessary dental procedures that are the direct result of cancer treatment, including
chemotherapy, biotherapy, and radiation therapy.

new text begin (b) The coverage required under this section shall include coverage for evaluations and
examinations, laboratory assessments, medications, and treatments associated with the
medically necessary dental procedures resulting from cancer treatment.

applies to insurance contracts issued, renewed, or amended on or after that date.
