  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to gambling; prohibiting certain obscene, 
  1.3             indecent, or immoral materials; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 1994, section 349.162, by adding a 
  1.5             subdivision; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota 
  1.6             Statutes, chapter 349A. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 349.162, is 
  1.9   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 7.  [CERTAIN EQUIPMENT NOT TO BE REGISTERED.] The 
  1.11  board may refuse to register any gambling equipment if it 
  1.12  determines that any words, phrases, or pictorial representations 
  1.13  in, on, or attached to the gambling equipment are obscene, 
  1.14  indecent, immoral, or of a nature that would offend public 
  1.15  morals or decency. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [349A.135] [PROHIBITION.] 
  1.17     The director may not approve any lottery game, ticket, or 
  1.18  promotional material with a name or symbol that is of an 
  1.19  obscene, indecent, or immoral nature or of a nature that would 
  1.20  offend public morals or decency.  
  1.21     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.22     Sections 1 and 2 are effective the day following final 
  1.23  enactment.
