  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; providing for payment of the 
  1.3             full cost of school breakfast and lunch special diets 
  1.4             based on religious beliefs of students; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 124D.111, subdivision 
  1.6             1; Minnesota Statutes 2003 Supplement, section 
  1.7             124D.1158, subdivision 3. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 124D.111, 
  1.10  subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.11     Subdivision 1.  [SCHOOL LUNCH AID COMPUTATION.] Each school 
  1.12  year, the state must pay districts participating in the national 
  1.13  school lunch program: 
  1.14     (1) the amount of eight cents for each full paid, reduced, 
  1.15  and free student lunch served to students in the district; and 
  1.16     (2) the amount necessary to pay the full cost for each full 
  1.17  paid, reduced, and free student lunch that is a special diet 
  1.18  based on the religious beliefs of the student and served to the 
  1.19  student in the district. 
  1.20     Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 2003 Supplement, section 
  1.21  124D.1158, subdivision 3, is amended to read: 
  1.22     Subd. 3.  [PROGRAM REIMBURSEMENT.] Each school year, the 
  1.23  state must reimburse each participating school: 
  1.24     (1) 30 cents for each reduced price breakfast and 55 cents 
  1.25  for each fully paid breakfast; and 
  1.26     (2) the amount necessary to pay the full cost for each 
  2.1   reduced price and fully paid breakfast that is a special diet 
  2.2   based on the religious beliefs of the student.
