  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to highways; appropriating money to 
  1.3             commissioner of transportation to restore and 
  1.4             rehabilitate trunk highway turnbacks and contemplated 
  1.5             turnbacks.  
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; HIGHWAY TURNBACKS.] 
  1.8      $20,000,000 in fiscal year 2003 is appropriated from the 
  1.9   general fund to the commissioner of transportation for the 
  1.10  restoration and rehabilitation of trunk highways that the 
  1.11  commissioner intends to turn back to counties and statutory or 
  1.12  home rule charter cities, and former trunk highways that the 
  1.13  commissioner has turned back to counties and statutory or home 
  1.14  rule charter cities.  The commissioner may spend a part of this 
  1.15  appropriation, as the commissioner determines, as payments to 
  1.16  counties and cities for these purposes.  This appropriation is 
  1.17  available until spent. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.19     Section 1 is effective July 1, 2002.
