  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to commerce; regulating the sale, rental, 
  1.3             discharge, and possession of paint ball guns; 
  1.4             providing penalties and remedies; proposing coding for 
  1.5             new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 325F. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [325F.815] [PAINT BALL GUNS.] 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [PROHIBITIONS.] (a) No person may sell or 
  1.9   rent a paint ball gun to a person under the age of 18 without 
  1.10  the written consent of the parent or legal guardian. 
  1.11     (b) No person may discharge or possess a paint ball gun in 
  1.12  a public elementary, middle, or secondary school building or on 
  1.13  its grounds, whether leased or owned by the school. 
  1.14     Subd. 2.  [PENALTIES.] (a) Unless a greater penalty is 
  1.15  provided in another statute, a person who violates subdivision 1 
  1.16  is guilty of a misdemeanor. 
  1.17     (b) The public and private remedies in section 8.31 apply 
  1.18  to violations of this section.
