A bill for an act
relating to education finance; appropriating money for small school district
disability access grants.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education for the fiscal year
designated.

new text begin Small school district disability access grants. new text end

new text begin (a) For grants to small school
districts to make facilities improvements necessary for ADA compliance:

new text begin (b) For purposes of this section, "small school district" means a public school district,
not including a charter school, with an average daily membership of 550 or less in fiscal
year 2021.

new text begin (c) The commissioner of education may award a small school district disability access
grant of up to $150,000 to each eligible school district. Priority must be given to public
school districts with an operating capital average building age greater than 40 years in fiscal
year 2021. A school district must apply for a small school district disability access grant in
the form and manner specified by the commissioner. The application must include a detailed
description of the school facilities improvements, including the total cost and the district's
need for the project.

district funds.
