  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to capital improvements; appropriating money 
  1.3             to make grants for ice centers; authorizing the sale 
  1.4             of state bonds. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      Subdivision 1.  [ICE CENTERS.] $9,000,000 is appropriated 
  1.8   from the bond proceeds fund to the amateur sports commission to 
  1.9   make grants of up to $250,000 each for ice centers under 
  1.10  Minnesota Statutes, section 240A.09. 
  1.11     Subd. 2.  [MARIUCCI ICE AND TENNIS FACILITY.] $10,000,000 
  1.12  is appropriated to the board of regents of the University of 
  1.13  Minnesota to predesign, design, construct, and equip a new 
  1.14  facility adjacent to Mariucci arena on the Minneapolis campus to 
  1.15  include an olympic-size ice sheet and tennis courts. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [BOND SALE.] 
  1.17     To provide the money appropriated in section 1 from the 
  1.18  state bond proceeds fund, the commissioner of finance, on 
  1.19  request of the governor, shall sell and issue bonds of the state 
  1.20  in an amount up to $19,000,000 in the manner, upon the terms, 
  1.21  and with the effect prescribed by Minnesota Statutes, sections 
  1.22  16A.631 to 16A.675, and by the Minnesota Constitution, article 
  1.23  XI, sections 4 to 7. 
  1.24     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.25     This act is effective the day following final enactment.
