  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to capital improvements; appropriating money 
  1.3             to the Minnesota historical society for a grant to the 
  1.4             city of Bemidji for purchase of a historic railroad 
  1.5             depot and its conversion to a historical museum and 
  1.6             facility; authorizing the sale of state bonds. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  [BEMIDJI HISTORICAL MUSEUM.] 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] $690,000 is appropriated 
  1.10  from the bond proceeds fund to the Minnesota historical society 
  1.11  for a grant to the city of Bemidji.  The city may use the grant 
  1.12  only to pay up to one-half of the total costs, including 
  1.13  acquisition, design, other preliminary work, construction costs, 
  1.14  furniture, fixtures, and equipment, to purchase an abandoned 
  1.15  historic railroad depot within the city and convert it to a 
  1.16  historical museum and facility for the Beltrami county 
  1.17  historical society.  This appropriation is in addition to the 
  1.18  appropriation of $50,000 for the same project in Laws 1997, 
  1.19  chapter 200, article 1, section 18, subdivision 5, paragraph (g).
  1.20     Subd. 2.  [BOND SALE.] To provide the money appropriated in 
  1.21  this act from the bond proceeds fund, the commissioner of 
  1.22  finance, on request of the governor, shall sell and issue bonds 
  1.23  of the state in an amount up to $690,000 in the manner, upon the 
  1.24  terms, and with the effect prescribed by Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.25  sections 16A.631 to 16A.675, and by the Minnesota Constitution, 
  1.26  article XI, sections 4 to 7. 
  2.1      Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.2      This act is effective the day following final enactment.
