  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to public safety; allowing political 
  1.3             subdivisions to regulate firearms with certain 
  1.4             restrictions; proposing coding for new law in 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes, chapter 624. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [624.7195] [LOCAL REGULATION.] 
  1.8      Notwithstanding sections 471.633 and 471.634, a home rule 
  1.9   or statutory city, county, or town may regulate firearms but may 
  1.10  not prohibit the transportation of an otherwise legal firearm 
  1.11  that is: 
  1.12     (1) unloaded; 
  1.13     (2) in a gun case specially made to contain a firearm that 
  1.14  fully encloses the firearm by being zipped, snapped, buckled, 
  1.15  tied, or otherwise fastened; and 
  1.16     (3) in the closed trunk or another part of a motor vehicle 
  1.17  that is inaccessible to the driver and passengers.
