A bill for an act
relating to courts; appropriating money to increase pay and reimbursement to
interpreters.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin INCREASED PAY AND REIMBURSEMENT FOR INTERPRETER
SERVICES; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin (a) $400,000 in fiscal year 2022 is appropriated from the general fund to the supreme
court to increase hourly fees paid to qualified certified and uncertified interpreters who are
independent contractors and assist persons disabled in communication in legal proceedings.

new text begin (b) $434,000 in fiscal year 2022 is appropriated from the general fund to the supreme
court to increase reimbursement for the expenses of qualified certified and uncertified
interpreters who are independent contractors and assist persons disabled in communication
in legal proceedings. Reimbursable expenses include but are not limited to reimbursement
for actual mileage traveled and travel time:
