A bill for an act
 relating to natural resources; requiring a report on designation of ginseng.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin GINSENG DESIGNATION; REPORT AND RULEMAKING.

new text begin The commissioner of natural resources shall not designate ginseng as endangered,
threatened, or a species of special concern under Minnesota Statutes, section 84.0895,
subdivision 3, until the commissioner submits a report to the chairs of the house and senate
committees having jurisdiction over natural resources as to why the change in designation
is necessary. The report must be submitted no later than February 15, 2008. No rule
changing the designation of ginseng is effective until after April 14, 2008.
