  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to privacy; prohibiting the collection of 
  1.3             Social Security numbers by ambulance service 
  1.4             licensees; amending Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 
  1.5             144E.123, subdivision 1.  
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 144E.123, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [COLLECTION AND MAINTENANCE.] A licensee 
  1.10  shall collect and provide prehospital care data to the board in 
  1.11  a manner prescribed by the board.  At a minimum, the data must 
  1.12  include items identified by the board that are part of the 
  1.13  National Uniform Emergency Medical Services Data Set.  A 
  1.14  licensee shall maintain prehospital care data for every 
  1.15  response.  The data collected under this section must not 
  1.16  include the Social Security number of the patient.
