  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to special assessments; requiring the 
  1.3             department of transportation to pay certain special 
  1.4             assessments.  
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS BY CITY OF FREEPORT.] 
  1.7      (a) The department of transportation must pay the city of 
  1.8   Freeport before August 1, 1999, $38,000 in assessments for 
  1.9   infrastructure improvements related to water main improvements.  
  1.10  The property was acquired by the department under Minnesota 
  1.11  Statutes, section 222.63.  
  1.12     (b) This act supersedes Minnesota Statutes, sections 
  1.13  429.061 and 435.19, to the extent those sections are 
  1.14  inconsistent with this act.
