A bill for an act
relating to tourism; appropriating money for Explore Minnesota Tourism.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.

(a) $5,050,000 in fiscal year 2018 and $5,050,000 in fiscal year 2019 are appropriated
from the general fund to Explore Minnesota Tourism. These amounts are added to the
agency's base.

(b) $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2018 and $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2019 are appropriated
from the general fund to Explore Minnesota Tourism for information technology
improvements. This is a onetime appropriation.

(c) $375,000 in fiscal year 2018 and $375,000 in fiscal year 2019 are appropriated from
the general fund to Explore Minnesota Tourism to assist in funding and securing major
events benefiting communities throughout the state. The agency must measure the economic
impact of visitors on state and local economies, increased lodging and nonlodging sales
taxes in addition to visitor spending, and increased media awareness of the state as an event
destination. This is a onetime appropriation.
