  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to health; adding interpreter services as 
  1.3             covered benefit under the MinnesotaCare program; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 1997 Supplement, section 
  1.5             256L.03, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1997 Supplement, section 
  1.8   256L.03, is amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 3a.  [INTERPRETER SERVICES.] Covered services include 
  1.10  hearing and language interpreter services that assist an 
  1.11  enrollee in obtaining covered health care services. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.13     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
