  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to beaver damage; clarifying authorized 
  1.3             beaver damage control program activities; 
  1.4             appropriating money; amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, 
  1.5             section 17.110, subdivision 1. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 17.110, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [ESTABLISHMENT.] The commissioner of 
  1.10  agriculture shall establish a beaver damage control grant 
  1.11  program to provide grants for the control of beaver activities 
  1.12  causing damage to public waters, roads, and ditches and adjacent 
  1.13  private property.  The grants may only be made to a joint powers 
  1.14  board established under section 471.59 by two or more 
  1.15  governmental units and may include Indian tribal 
  1.16  governments.  The commissioner may promote the beaver damage 
  1.17  control program and may require promotional activities to be 
  1.18  undertaken by grant recipients. 
  1.19     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION; BEAVER DAMAGE CONTROL.] 
  1.20     $125,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2000 and $125,000 
  1.21  is appropriated in fiscal year 2001 from the general fund to the 
  1.22  commissioner of agriculture for the beaver damage control 
  1.23  program in Minnesota Statutes, section 17.110.
