A bill for an act
 relating to transportation; designating Sioux Trail Transit Way; requiring
Metropolitan Council to conduct Sioux Trail Transit Way feasibility study.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin SIOUX TRAIL TRANSIT WAY.

new text begin The commissioner of transportation and the Metropolitan Council shall reference
in planning or study documents any transit service proposal along or near marked Trunk
Highway 13 between the cities of Shakopee and Eagan as Sioux Trail Transit Way.

Sec. 2. new text begin SIOUX TRAIL COMMUTER RAIL FEASIBILITY STUDY.

new text begin The Metropolitan Council shall conduct a study of the feasibility of the use of
commuter rail in a corridor aligned on or near marked Trunk Highway 13 between the
cities of Shakopee and St. Paul. The Metropolitan Council may hire a consultant to assist
in the study and report. This commuter rail line must be referred to as the Sioux Trail Line.
