  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to gambling; providing an expiration date for 
  1.3             gambling compacts negotiated between the state and 
  1.4             Indian tribes; amending Minnesota Statutes 1994, 
  1.5             section 3.9221, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 3.9221, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 4a.  [TERMINATION OF COMPACTS.] Notwithstanding 
  1.10  subdivision 4, all compacts negotiated under this section and 
  1.11  signed before January 1, 1996, expire on January 1, 1997.
