A bill for an act
relating to state government; providing an exemption for private businesses from
a requirement provided by executive order that workers who can work from home
must do so.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin COVID-19 WORK FROM HOME REQUIREMENT; PRIVATE
BUSINESSES EXEMPT.

new text begin Notwithstanding any conflicting provisions of an executive order to the contrary,
including Executive Order 21-01, private businesses are exempt from any requirement that
workers who can work from home must do so. This section does not supersede any other
provisions of an executive order not in conflict with this exemption, and does not prohibit
a private business from choosing to require that its workers work from home.

new text begin This section is effective the day following final enactment and
expires when the peacetime emergency declared by Executive Order 20-01 to respond to
the COVID-19 infectious disease outbreak is terminated or expires.
