A bill for an act
relating to higher education; authorizing collaborative Minnesota State
Colleges and Universities community-based energy development pilot projects;
appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; COMMUNITY-BASED ENERGY
DEVELOPMENT.

new text begin $1,200,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2008 from the general fund to the Board
of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities for community-based
energy development pilot projects. The board must allocate this appropriation to
Mesabi Range Technical and Community College, the Minnesota West Community and
Technical College, and the Austin campus of Riverland Community College to establish
partnerships for community-based energy development pilot projects. The pilot projects
must involve students and faculty in community-based energy development. An allocation
under this section is available to the participating institutions and the partnerships for
community-based energy development projects for the biennium ending June 30, 2009.
