A bill for an act
 relating to natural resources; requiring waiver of certain limitations on water
appropriations for municipal drinking water supply; amending Minnesota Statutes
2016, section 103G.285, subdivision 1.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 103G.285, subdivision 1, is amended to read:


Subdivision 1.

Waiver.

new text begin (a) new text end The commissioner may waive a limitation or requirement
in subdivisions 2 to 6 for just cause.

new text begin (b) The commissioner must waive the limitations in subdivision 3, paragraph (a), for
appropriations from water basins that serve as the primary source for a municipal drinking
water supply, have been dredged to increase the basin volume by more than 20 percent, and
have a basin watershed larger than ten square miles.
