A bill for an act
relating to health insurance; requiring coverage of hearing aids for individuals 26
years of age or younger; amending Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 62Q.675.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 62Q.675, is amended to read:


62Q.675 HEARING AIDS; PERSONS deleted text begin 18deleted text end new text begin 26new text end OR YOUNGER.

A health plan must cover hearing aids for individuals deleted text begin 18deleted text end new text begin 26new text end years of age or younger for
hearing loss that is not correctable by other covered procedures. Coverage required under
this section is limited to one hearing aid in each ear every three yearsnew text begin , except that additional
hearing aids must be covered within the three-year period if a physician or audiologist
certifies that additional hearing aids are necessary due to a change in hearing

deductible, coinsurance, co-payment, or other limitation on the coverage under this section
that is not generally applicable to other coverages under the plan may be imposed.
