relating to education; creating school library aid; appropriating money for school
library aid; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 134.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1.

[134.356] SCHOOL LIBRARY AID.

new text begin School library aid. new text end
new text begin
For fiscal year 2024 and later, school library aid for
a district or charter school equals the greater of $15 times the district's adjusted pupil units
for the school year or $50,000.

new text begin Uses of school library aid. new text end
new text begin
School library aid must be reserved and used for
directly funding the costs of the following purposes within a library:

(1) the salaries and benefits of a school library media specialist;

new text begin
(2) electronic, computer, and audiovisual equipment;
new text end
new text begin
(3) information technology infrastructure and digital tools;
new text end
new text begin
(4) electronic and material resources; or
new text end
new text begin
(5) furniture, equipment, or supplies.

This section is effective for revenue for fiscal year 2024 and later.
