1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to crime prevention; providing goals for the 1.3 state regarding victims of violence; proposing coding 1.4 for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 15. 1.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. [15.87] [VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE.] 1.7 In furtherance of the state policy of zero tolerance for 1.8 violence in section 1.50, the state shall have a goal of 1.9 providing: 1.10 (a) every victim of violence in Minnesota, regardless of 1.11 the county of residence, access to: 1.12 (1) crisis intervention services, including a 24-hour 1.13 emergency phone line; 1.14 (2) safe housing; 1.15 (3) counseling and peer support services; and 1.16 (4) assistance in pursuing legal remedies and appropriate 1.17 medical care; and 1.18 (b) every child who is a witness to abuse or who is a 1.19 victim of violence, access to: 1.20 (1) crisis child care; 1.21 (2) safe supervised child visitation, when needed; 1.22 (3) age appropriate counseling and support; and 1.23 (4) assistance with legal remedies, medical care, and 1.24 needed social services.
