  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to railroads; imposing an entry fee upon 
  1.3             railroads entering Minnesota from a foreign country; 
  1.4             providing a penalty. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [RAILROADS; ENTRY FEE.] 
  1.7      Subdivision 1.  [FEE IMPOSED.] The commissioner of 
  1.8   transportation shall impose and collect an entry fee of $100 per 
  1.9   railroad car on each train owned by a railroad corporation 
  1.10  incorporated in a foreign country and entering Minnesota from a 
  1.11  foreign country. 
  1.12     Subd. 2.  [OPERATION PROHIBITED; PENALTY.] A railroad 
  1.13  subject to the entry fee may not operate a train in Minnesota on 
  1.14  which the entry fee has not been paid.  Violation of this 
  1.15  section is a misdemeanor. 
  1.16     Subd. 3.  [DISPOSITION OF PROCEEDS.] The commissioner shall 
  1.17  deposit the proceeds from the entry fee into the general fund.
