A bill for an act
relating to natural resources; appropriating money for grants to implement the
Minnesota wood public education program.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin MINNESOTA WOOD PUBLIC EDUCATION PROGRAM.

new text begin (a) $587,000 in fiscal year 2008 and $528,000 in fiscal year 2009 are appropriated
from the general fund to the commissioner of natural resources for grants to nonprofit
Minnesota corporations for public and market awareness, exhibits, research, buyer
assistance services, brand services, and administration of a public education program for
products certified as being composed of more than 50 percent Minnesota forest materials.
This is a onetime appropriation and is available until spent.

new text begin (b) By January 15, 2009, the commissioner of natural resources shall provide a status
report to the legislature on the Minnesota wood public education program. By January 1,
2010, the commissioner shall provide a final report on the program.
