A bill for an act
relating to housing; providing homeownership grants for families with children
with disabilities; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; HOMEOWNERSHIP PROGRAM FOR
FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES.

new text begin (a) $1,200,000 from the general fund is appropriated to the Minnesota Housing
Finance Agency for fiscal year 2015 for a pilot program for families with children with
disabilities to provide grants for homeownership. Eligible families must: (1) have one
child under the age of 19 with a medically diagnosed disability, and (2) have faced housing
instability as renters due to the child's disability in the last two years requiring them to
move or be at risk of losing their current housing.

new text begin (b) Of the amount in paragraph (a), $600,000 is to the City of Lakes Community
Land Trust to provide homeownership opportunities for up to eight eligible families to
find safe and stable housing in conjunction with existing programs and provide additional
incentives to families eligible under this section to make homeownership more affordable.

new text begin (c) Of the amount in paragraph (a), $600,000 is to Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity
to provide homeownership opportunities for up to five eligible families to find safe and
stable housing in conjunction with existing programs.
