A bill for an act
relating to public safety; authorizing probation officers and pretrial release agents
to conduct searches of persons on probation or pretrial release; proposing coding
for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 609.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin An individual who is (1) accused of a crime and conditionally released from custody
before trial; or (2) placed on probation following adjudication or conviction, shall submit
to a warrantless unannounced search of the individual's person, vehicle, or premises, by, or
at the direction of, any probation officer or pretrial release agent.
