  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to local government; clarifying conflict of 
  1.3             interest for watershed district and soil and water 
  1.4             conservation district officers; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 2002, section 471.88, subdivision 1. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 471.88, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [COVERAGE.] The governing body of any port 
  1.10  authority, seaway port authority, economic development 
  1.11  authority, watershed district, soil and water conservation 
  1.12  district, town, school district, hospital district, county, or 
  1.13  city, by unanimous vote, may contract for goods or services with 
  1.14  an interested officer of the governmental unit in any of the 
  1.15  following cases. 
  1.16     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.17  following final enactment.
