  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to local government; authorizing the city of 
  1.3             International Falls to impose residency requirements. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [INTERNATIONAL FALLS; RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS.] 
  1.6      Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 415.16, or 
  1.7   provision of other law, home rule charter, ordinance, resolution 
  1.8   or rule to the contrary, the city of International Falls may 
  1.9   require residency within the city's territorial limits as a 
  1.10  condition of employment by the city.  The residency requirement 
  1.11  may apply only to persons hired after the date the requirement 
  1.12  is imposed.  
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [LOCAL APPROVAL.] 
  1.14     Section 1 takes effect the day after the governing body of 
  1.15  the city of International Falls complies with Minnesota 
  1.16  Statutes, section 645.021, subdivision 3.
