A bill for an act
relating to capital investment; requiring that certain equipment to accommodate
hearing-impaired people be included in a capital improvement project using state
funds; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 16B.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

STATE-FUNDED CAPITAL PROJECTS.

new text begin The commissioner shall not approve a contract for, or grant state funds for, a capital
improvement project to construct or renovate a building unless the project includes
equipping public meeting rooms, auditoriums, arenas, or other public gathering space in
the building with audio-induction loops to provide an electromagnetic signal for hearing
aids and cochlear implants, and with radio frequency transmitters to broadcast a radio
signal to dedicated receivers to be used to assist the hearing impaired.
