  1.2             relating to animals; prohibiting the group training of 
  1.3             dogs on state wildlife management areas; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 97B.005, subdivision 
  1.5             1. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 97B.005, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [FIELD TRAINING; PERMIT REQUIRED FOR 
  1.10  CERTAIN PERIOD.] A person may not train hunting dogs afield from 
  1.11  April 16 to July 14 except by special permit.  The commissioner 
  1.12  may issue a special permit, without a fee, to train hunting dogs 
  1.13  afield on land owned by the trainer or on land that the owner 
  1.14  provides written permission.  The written permission must be 
  1.15  carried in personal possession of the trainer while training the 
  1.16  dogs.  Group training must not be conducted on lands that are 
  1.17  established as state wildlife management areas under section 
  1.18  86A.05, subdivision 8.
